Nissan Recalls 134,000 Models After Fluid Leaks Cause Fires
Vehicle Recall Alert: Nissan Motors Recalls 134,000 Vehicles
Nissan is recalling approximately 134,000 Murano and Maxima models in the United States due to brake fluid leaks which in turn can cause fires.
The recall includes certain 2015-17 Murano SUVs and 2016-17 Maxima large cars that are equipped with intelligent cruise control. The recall also included some 2015 and 2016 Murano hybrids. The Intelligent Cruise Control features an anti-lock brake actuator pump that may allow brake fluid to leak onto an internal electrical circuit board. If that happens, it could result in an underhood fire.
Owners will know that their circuit board has been damaged by leaking brake fluid if the ABS light stays illuminated for more than 10 seconds after the engine has been started.
“If this occurs, owners are advised to park the vehicle outdoors away from other vehicles or structures and to not drive the vehicle,” says the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
